What’s coming to the Riverside

27th October 2023

‘They’re a queer people in Islandmagee …they’re as queer a people as you’d find in the length and breadth of the land.’
A one act play written in 1948 based on the real witch trials that took place in Islandmagee in the early 1700’s. Set over the course of an evening we follow Justice of the Peace Andrew Ferguson’s investigation into Mary Dunbar’s allegations that some local women had bewitched her.
Produced and performed by a collective of Ulster University staff and students from the School of Arts and Humanities (Cinematic Arts, Drama, History and Music).

Friday 10th November

Having clocked up a major milestone last year, some commentators may have assumed that his ‘Phil Coulter at Eighty’ National tour was a sort of lap of honour, a last hurrah for his followers.   Wrong!

At over 30 shows across the country the fans had their say, with packed houses and standing ovations.   It was definitely not time to say, Goodbye.  They wanted more of that Coulter magic, the songs, the stories and the touch of Tranquility.

After 55 years at the very top of his game Phil has achieved the status of legend in the music business.   But his enthusiasm and energy have never waned.

He loves his audiences and has happily jumped straight back into planning another show and a new tour, with fresh collections of memories and melodies.

Audiences really responded to the different qualities that his Special Guests brought to the evening so he’s delighted to welcome back his glamorous and ever popular wife Geraldine Branagan and rising star and young turk George Hutton.
