Senan Devine Guest of Honour at Coleraine FC Youths awards dinner

Coleraine FC Youths held their annual awards ceremony in the Lodge Hotel on Saturday afternoon and evening.

Because of the size of the club, the awards had to be split over two sessions.

Guest of Honour at the afternoon session was up and coming star Senan Devine who gave an informative talk to the young players and took part in a question and answer session with the young Coleraine FC Youths players.

Also present was Coleraine CEO Simon Magee who paid tribute to the players, the coaches and the parents for trusting Coleraine Football Club with the sporting development of their children as they make their pathway through the club’s various age structures and hopefully into the first team and potentially onto a professional career.

Guest of Honour Senan Devine talked of his pathway through youth football to making his debut for the senior team last season against Crusaders and how young players coming through should first and foremost enjoy the game, enjoy training and enjoy playing. Add to that, listening to their coaches, taking advice, developing their skills and dedication and hard work are essential in the game for young players.

Asked who was best player played with so far, Seanan had no hesitation in going for Stephen Lowry.

“He is amazing, his ball control, his skill and ability on the ball is fantastic. `if anything Stephen Lowry is a perfect role model and someone I hold in highest regard.

In answer to other questions giving an Insight into his evolving character, he ruled out any pr-match superstitions or rituals, give an insight into his pre-match preparations and revealed despite being small coming through the ranks, he never doubted his ability nor let up on his work-rate or dedication.

And, during questions, revealed his is an Arsenal fan and does not have a girlfriend.

His favourite players outside the realms of Coleraine Football Club?

It is Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka for his role off the football field as much as his skills on it.

“He is good on the media and comes across as someone who despite his fame, is humble and down to earth.

Senan presented the awards to the young players  from the following Coleraine FC Youth teams:
Coleraine 2017s; Coleraine 2016 Olympic; Coleraine 2016 Peacocks; Coleraine 2015 Olympic; Coleraine 2015 Peacocks; Coleraine 2014 Olympic; Coleraine 2014 Peacocks.
