PK catches O’Neill’s eye

By Michael Anderson

Patrick Kelly’s remarkable progress could be about to go to the very top. . . with a senior international call up.

The West Ham United Under 18 star has been asked to attend a training camp with the senior squad.

Manager Michael O’Neill is keen to take a closer look at PK after he impressed him at a recent Under 21 squad training session.

O’Neill has been following the midfielder’s progress this season.

And it is understood the former Coleraine star is under serious consideration – along with team-mate and ex Linfield striker Callum Marshall – to be included in the squad for this month’s European Championship clashes.

Northern Ireland take on Denmark and Kazakhstan in vital fixtures.

PK already had a prestigious FA Youth Cup winners medal secured after starring in his side’s emphatic victory over Arsenal.

Being involved in the senior squad would round off a remarkable campaign.

Whether or not it happens this time round, it seems only a matter of time being PK makes his senior international bow.
