Over 500 players, coaches and guests attend Coleraine Youths FC presentation dinner

Coleraine FC Youths held their inaugural awards ceremony at the Lodge Hotel recently, where the Guest of Honour was local hero Lyndon Kane who presented the boys and girls with their awards.

The awards, held over two sessions, one in the afternoon and one in the evening saw over 200 guests and players take part, followed by over 300 hundred players and guests in the evening ceremony.

Also present from the Board of Directors was Chrissy Willis and Mark Kane and of course, Benny the Bannsider, who all gave the Coleraine Youths their support in the afternoon.

In the evening ceremony, Coleraine FC Chairman Colin McKendry addressed the gathering, highlighting the club’s commitment to ensuring that Coleraine FC Youths receive full backing from their senior club.

Oran Kearney highlighted the club’s pathway structures and encouraged the boys and girls to listen to their coaches, work hard, set goals and more importantly, learn that their pathway to their place in the game, be that at the Premier League, playing for Coleraine, or playing locally, is different for each and every player.

Players progress at different levels, some progress quickly, some progress at a much slower rate and some are late developers, but with hard work, dedication and enjoyment in the game, each player can drive to be the best they possibly can be.

Master of Ceremony was Jamie Selfridge ably assisted by Damien Reid as the various age groups were invited to the stage by their coaches.

Prior to giving the children their awards, Lyndon Kane took part in a quick question and answer session, as he replied to questions from the various age groups.

It was similar in the evening sessions when Lyndon gave very honest answers based on his own experiences.

THANKS

All the coaches thanked their players for their dedication throughout the season, the parents for their commitment and help during the season; Club Administrator Amanda Reid for ensuring kits were ordered, pitches were booked and paid for and generally keeping everything running over smoothly.

Thanks were also expressed to the hard-working Committee for all that they do behind the scenes to make sure development and progress can be made at all age groups and finally to Jamie Selfridge for the smooth running of both the afternoon and evening awards ceremonies.
