National Hot Rods and National Ministox Headline Oval Racing Weekender

An action packed Bank Holiday weekend of oval racing is planned this coming weekend over the two DMC Race Promotions circuits at Aghadowey Oval and Tullyroan Oval.

The action commences at Aghadowey on Saturday 25th May (5pm start) before switching to Tullyroan Oval on Sunday 26th May (2pm start).

National Hot Rods

At Aghadowey on Saturday Galgorm’s Shane Murray will aim to clinch the Northern Ireland Championship in the elite National Hot Rods formula. The local ace has been on superb form of late and goes into the final round of World Series NI clear of his nearest challengers. As always the fastest cars on the local tracks will provide some thrilling action, with Antrim’s Dean McCrory also fighting hard with Portadown’s Kenny McCann for the final World Championship qualifying slot.

National Ministox

The weekend will also see the fascinating National Ministox formula from England make their annual visit to the Ulster ovals. The Irish Championship will be up for grabs at Aghadowey, defended by Boden Murfin, before the Irish Masters is up for grabs at Tullyroan Oval on Sunday.

One to watch in the packed field will be Joelan Maynard who recently won the British Championship, whilst Finley Kew returns to the scene of some great times during his Ninja Kart days. The racing from the Mini’s has been simply superb over the past few years and this year promises to be no exception.

Junior Productions

The young stars in the Junior Productions also take centre stage as they chase their British Championship at Aghadowey on Saturday and the Irish Open at Tullyroan the following day.

Local hot shots chasing the title will be Antrim’s Leyton Hughes, Killyman’s Irish Champion Matthew Weir, Kilmore’s NI Points Champion Ryan Berry and Portadown’s Callum Doak to name a few. Also in contention will be Harry Minish from Tandragee and top lady racer Lacey Bevan from Coleraine.

Scottish stars William Plenderleith and Lewis Dickson will lead the visiting challenge as they aim to claim the coveted British title.

Support Racing

Support action at Aghadowey on Saturday comes from the Stock Rods and Thunder Rods, with the Superstox, 2.0 Hot Rods and the Ninja Karts (racing for the Moffett Family Trophy) also in action at Tullyroan on Sunday.

Shane Murray will be hoping to seal victory in the Northern Ireland Championship for National Hot Rods.
