McGonigle back at Bannsiders

Two days into the transfer window and a second Coleraine signing.

Jamie McGonigle is back with the Bannsiders, following in from Monday’s arrival of Jack Scott.

McGonigle has left Derry City and returns to the Showgrounds on a three and a half year deal.

During his first stint at the Showgrounds, McGonigle bagged 65 goals in 179 appearances.

A statement from the club reads:

Coleraine FC are thrilled to announce the signing of Jamie McGonigle on a
three-and-a-half year contract.

McGonigle was a part of the Coleraine team who won the Irish Cup in 2018
and he was named in the NIFWA Team of the Year in that very same

In 2019, the Dungiven native would sign for Crusaders before moving to
Derry City in June 2021.

McGonigle would add to his medal haul at The Brandywell as he scored in
the FAI Cup win against Shelbourne in 2022.

Coleraine boss Oran Kearney says: “We have spoken quite a bit about how the injury to Matthew Shevlin has hurt us in terms of scoring goals this season,” he said.

“We’re creating chances at present and it’s important we start putting
the ball into the back of the net which Jamie can do. We said it in the summer that we need to add more goals and Jamie certainly has the pedigree to do that.

“Jamie was eager to come back to the club when we expressed our interest
and that was really refreshing.”

The Club can confirm that McGonigle will wear the number 19 shirt for
the rest of the campaign.
