McDaid off the mark for Coleraine

Michael Anderson rounds-up this afternoon’s action

Two games on one day and two wins for Coleraine.

And it was two striker’s who took centrestage.

Davy McDaid made a goalscoring return to the club in a 3-1 win over H&W Welders.

And Michael McCrudden hit a hat trick in a 3-0 win at Coagh United.

The Bannsiders split their squad as they gear up for the new season.

McDaid made his second debut against the Welders, alongside the likes of Jamie Glackin, Lee Lynch, Stephen Lowry, Stevie O’Donnell and Gareth Deane.

And he marked his return to the club by getting on the scoresheet at the Showgrounds.

The home team defeated the Welders – who beat Portstewart 1-0 on Friday night – with two late goals sealing victory.

A fine free kick from Lynch gave the home side the lead at the break.

Josh Kee levelled for the Belfast side.

McDaid tapped in to restore the lead after a fine run by Glackin.

And Glackin was the creator as Scott added the third.

And there was victory as well for Coleraine  at Hagan Park against Coagh United.

The Premier Intermediate League side also came up against several first teamers including Jack O’Mahony, Kieran Farren, Conor McKendry, Michael McCrudden and Andy Mitchell.

And it was striker McCrudden who was the star of the show.

He served notice of his intent ahead of the new season by helping himself to all three goals.
