Limavady Under-15’s success in coveted Irish Society Schools Shield Final

The Hon. Irish Society Shield was won at a sun-soaked Coleraine Showgrounds by Limavady Grammar School, who triumphed over Dalriada Grammar .

It wasn’t to be for the Dalriada Under-15s who had a tremendous support with them for the final.

Limavady scored the break-thropuh goal mid-way through the first half. Both teams created several chances which went a begging. Dalriada rallied in the second half, but Limavady powered ahead with another goals to life this historic trophy at the final whistle.

There were excellent individual performances for both Limavady and Dalriada. However, one of the dominate features was the way in which both teams controlled the ball well and played some highly entertaining football throughout.

In all finals, there has to be a winner and a loser. Limavady Grammar deserved their triumph, but the real winner was the manner the boys played the game, competitive and feisty at times, but a thoroughly sporting final by all involved – credit to both sets of players and fantastic role-models for their respective schools.
