Knockout competitions reach semi-final stages

The draws for the Coleraine and District League knockout competitions took place on Thursday evening at the monthly meeting of the League Management Committee.

Making the draws for the Steele and Sons Shield, Afternoon and Morning League Cups were Keith Scott, Leo Quinn and David Shiels. The draw was as follows:

Steele and Sons Shield Semi-finals: Portrush v Balnamore and Heights v Portstewart Town, both ties will be evening kick-offs.

Morning League Cup: Ballymoney United Reserves v Glenshane Athletic; Maghera Strollers v Portstewart Town, both ties will be evening kick-offs.

Afternoon League Cup: Portrush v Cooktown Youths Draperstown Celtic v Magherafelt Sky Blues, both ties will be evening kick-offs.

The annual presentation dinner of the Coleraine and Diztrict League will be on Friday, June 7, at the Lodge Hotel, Coleraine. Clubs are asked to please get their payments in for the dinner as soon as possible for numbers.

League Comet administrator Johnny Evans informs the league that in the four league competitions and three cup competitions this year, to date, clubs have played a combined 387 games across all competitions with 2,109 goals scored.

Dervock have conceded the least goals (eight) and have the highest win ratio (91% of their games, Millburn have scored the most goals so far with 135 in Morning Division Two.

Meanwhile, the Coleraine and District League are issuing invitations to any club who may wish to join next season’s competitive Premier League to contact Kyle Cauley by e-mail: kyle.cauley@btinternet.com to register any interests.

The league management committee are investigating ways of making the premier league more competitive as well as looking at the make of the morning league divisions.
