Eddie relishing ’74 anniversary

Eddie Crossan is counting down the days until Saturday.

The former championship winning Coleraine goalkeeper lives in the United States these days.

Eddie can’t wait to hook up once again with those team mates who wrote their name into Showgrounds folklore alongside him 50 years ago.

As well as the Gibson Cup, Eddie was also between the sticks when the Bannsiders won an Irish Cup and Blaxnit All Ireland Cup.

He packed a lot into his five seasons on the Ballycastle Road!

“The anniversary celebration couldn’t have worked out any better for me,” Eddie told me.

“I still come back home to Derry two or three times a year.

“I had planned to come over for the month of April.

“So when Frankie Moffatt rang to invite me along on Saturday it worked out perfectly.”

Eddie still follows the Bannsiders from his Washington DC home.

“Definitely. I keep up to date with developments on the internet.

“First thing I look for on a Saturday is the Coleraine result.

“Its still hard to believe that we’re the only Coleraine team to win the league!”
