Coleraine hit for six!

Saturday is a day Coleraine fans will want to forget in a hurry!

A six goal hammering at the hands of Glentoran saw Oran Kearney’s men slip out of the top six.

It’s the first time since 1991 that a Coleraine team has conceded six goals in the league against the Glens (lost 6-1 on that occasion).

It is also the first time the Bannsiders have lost by such a margin at the Oval.

Club statistician Hunter McClelland highlighted the club’s previous 6-0 defeats to Causeway Chronicle.

As you can see from our illustration, the the first was against Distillery way back in 1934 and the last in 1998 against derby rivals Ballymena United.

“On a positive note, we can all remember beating the Glens 6-0 at the Oval,” recalls Hunter.

That was the day Rory Patterson (4), Darren Boyce and Stephen Carson scored.

“I was glad I was there that day!” added Hunter.
