Coleraine didn’t get result they deserved on Saturday

Lady Luck wasn’t on Coleraine’s side yesterday. The Bannsiders more than matched second-in-the-table Cliftonville.

Yet it was Jim Magilton’s side which came out on top.
Stephen Lomas offered up his thoughts on the game to Michael Anderson.

“Coleraine were very unlucky and didn’t get what they deserved out of the game.

“The substitutions swung it Cliftonville’s way although from a defensive point of view, they weren’t great goals to concede.

“Coleraine needed to score when we were on top in the first half.

“They dominated the game and made Cliftonville look very ordinary.

“At half time I was a little fearful because I knew there would be a reaction from Jim’s team and that’s what happened.

“Not being disrespectful to Davy McDaid but Matthew Shevlin was badly missed leading the line.

“I think if he plays we win that match.

“Despite the defeat there were plenty of positives I felt.

“Conor McKendry scored another superb goal.

He had a bit of a lull a few weeks ago but has come back strongly to become arguably our most potent threat.

“I also like Andy Scott. He has his moments and his work rate is excellent but I feel he can still deliver more of an end product.

“There are a lot of hard fixtures coming up in the next few weeks.

“It won’t be easy but we need to get points on the board.

“Oran and the players will have to take the positives from Saturday’s performance, maintain those levels and hopefully get the rub of the green to pick up a win.”
