Cole on trial with Bannsiders

Coleraine 4
Ards. 0

Defender Darren Cole turned out for Coleraine as they rounded off their summer preparations with a Showgrounds success this afternoon.

Victory against their Championship opponents completed a 100% win rate in their warm up fixtures.

Former Derry City and Glentoran player Cole slotted in at the heart of the defence against Ards.

It was at the other end where he nearly made his mark, hitting the crossbar in the first half.

31 year old Cole, from Edinburgh, also counts Glasgow Rangers, Partick Thistle, Morton and Livingston amongst his previous clubs.

Now the real test lies ahead…Friday’s Premiership kick off against rivals Ballymena United.

Manager Oran Kearney will certainly have a tricky task selecting his team for that game.

Several of the first team squad, not involved today, played in Friday’s 5-1 win at Portstewart.

Aaron Jarvis, with a hat trick and Andy Mitchell, with a brace, will hope their displays will get them involved next weekend.

An Andy Scott goal had Coleraine in front at the break.

Dean Jarvis, Matthew Shevlin and Ciaran O’Hara also found the target in the second period to complete the scoring.
