Coina and Maghera share derby day points

Coina Rovers 3 Maghera Strollers 3

Coina didn’t have to go far for Matchday 10 of the season. This game was the halfway mark of the league campaign for the Coina lads. This fixture saw the second and third table positions go head to head.

Coina opened the scoring after a possession controlled opening period. A strike from Cahal Chambers into the bottom left corner from outside the box after a slack clearance from the Maghera Strollers centre half.

Strollers struck back after a Coina Rovers defensive error. An across the box cross which was slotted home at the back post by Jordan Convery putting the sides level.

Coina were hit with a further wake up call from dreamland whenever Strollers put another one by them through Coalan McGuckin on the 49 minute.

It wouldn’t be long until Coina seen a look at goal 25 metres from the net. Cahal Chambers would set the ball down and strike it into the top right corner. Without a doubt the Club’s goal of the season so far. This left both teams level 53 minutes into the game.

Coina introduced some new faces to push on for another. This change proved successful through substitute Tiarnan Rocks on the 61st minute. A well played ball by Cahal Chambers put Rocks in for a lovely chip over the Maghera Strollers Goalkeeper. A perfect debut off the bench.

Coina tried to see the game out but was stopped by the second wonder goal of the game. Maghera Strollers’ striker McGuckin performed an aerobatic display and bicycled kicked the ball into the roof of the net. This put the teams level at 3 all, 75 minutes into the match which would inevitably be the final score. Any potential threats were hushed out by either side’s defence.
