Ciaran O’Hara in illustrious company

Coleraine goalscorer Ciaran O’Hara joined some rather illustrious company on Saturday, writes MICHAEL ANDERSON.

After making his debut off the bench in midweek against Glenavon, the Northern Ireland Under 17 international was given his first start against Loughgall.

He responded by scoring the opener in the 3-2 win.

In doing so, Ciaran joined a small Showgrounds club.

But one comprising some of the best players to ever pull on the famous Stripes!

Ciaran joined the legendary Raymond Gaston, Dessie Dickson and Felix Healy in scoring for the club on his first start.

Raymond Gaston’s goal on  February 27 1965 helped Coleraine defeat Ards 2-1.

Deadly Dessie Dickson popped up on August 7 1965  to earn a 2-2 draw with Bangor.

And on August 19, 1980, a certain Felix Healy hit the solitary strike in a 3-1 defeat to DIstillery.

If Ciaran goes on to enjoy half the success of that trio, the Bannsiders are onto a winner!
