Boreland to fight again in near future

It’s onwards and upwards for Matty Boreland.

As debuts go, they don’t get much better than his!

A first round knock out on your first professional fight is certainly one way of attracting attention.

And the Coleraine boxer’s stunning start against Louis Smithson – he had his opponent down three times – has won plenty of admirers.

He is already being looked at for upcoming shows in England after his Durham demolition on Saturday night.

His sensational display – he had Smithson on the canvas within a couple of punches – led one punter at ringside to call him the Irish Animal!

Could Matty just have inherited a new nickname?

Regardless of what he will be called, Matty will be fighting again soon.

His manager Ian Gaughran is keen to keep him active.

“I’m taking a couple of days off then it’s back to training again,” an elated Matty said the day after his triumph.

“We are talking about fighting again potentially within the next five weeks.

“After this short break, we are going to sit down and look at a date and location.”
