Boreland hits four in the rain as Millburn triumph

Millburn FC welcomed Ballymoney Athletic to the Crescent on Saturday

The weather seemed to be holding off and the match went ahead with Millburn dominating the play from the first whistle, cfreating many chances before Curtis Boreland opened the scoring on five minutes. Curtis added a second on 10 minutes before Chrissy Boreland made it 3-0 on the 15th minute.

Millburn continued to rattle the opposition’s box but the Athletic keeper kept the scoreline down. However, just before half time, David Caldwell went on a run beating two defenders before clipping the ball over the keeper for his first and Millburn’s fourth going into the half-time break.

The second half kicked off and the weather soon closed with in torrential rain non-stop, Millburn kept moving forward created lot’s of chances soon going five up when Curtis Boreland grabbed his hat-trick

Lewis Bradley got in on the act finishing well with a low shot into the corner to make it 6-0

Dylan McCloskey’s pacey run leaving the defender on his heels before smashing home for Millburn’s 7th and Chris Boreland fired home his second of the day, before Curtis got his fourth goal of the game to make it 9-0

From a corner the ball was fired into the box and Ballymoney forced the ball beyond Pete Cochrane in goal to make it 9-1 with a consolation goal before Dylan McCloskey got away again to smash home the 10th and Lewis Bradley cooley slotted home to make the score 11 v 1 to Millburn

How the both teams played through that horrendous weather in that second half period and for Millburn to keep in such control during the driving rain and wind was a great effort

Well done to Ballymoney Athletic for battling to the end
