Best of seven win for Millburn

Millburn FC 4 Magherafelt Reds  3

Millburn FC welcomed Magherafelt Reds to the Crescent

Millburn started well against the well organised strong side and created an early chance which was well saved. The Reds were very dangerous on set plays being so physically strong and a big side they used this to their advantage on corners and put the ball right under the crossbar each time with the big lads attacking the ball Millburn found these corners difficult to deal with

Millburn got a penalty from a hand ball and took the lead from a Curtis Boreland spot kick

But the Reds hit back from quickly to level the game at 1 each

Millburn edged ahead with a brilliantly taken goal by Christopher Boreland a though ball which he back headed over the keeper a sublime finish to take the lead

The second half Millburn turned in the gas and took control early and Craig Caldwell smashed in a left footed shot to extend Millburn’s lead to 3-1 before Curtis Boreland doubled his goal tally with another penalty kick after Dylan McCloskey was hauled down 4-1

The Reds didn’t give up and then set plays came back to haunt Millburn with two goals late on both from Corners to make the last minutes very edgy for the League Leaders
