Ballycastle United Youths in action at Harry Gregg Foundation Small Sided Games Centre

Ballycastle United 2014 youths were on early kick off again this week against Portstewart in the Harry Gregg Foundation Youth and Community, and again, took a while to get into the game.

Portstewart took the lead after 10 minutes before Cael was fouled 20 yards from goal, he stepped up and took the free kick himself and fired low into the corner to get us back to 1-1.

After that, Portstewart upped their game and began causing problems down the wings and scored a couple of goals before halftime leaving Ballycastle trailing 3-1 at the break.

Ballycastle started the second half really well and Aoibhe whipped in a great cross from a corner which Cael got his head on to for his second of the day. United started playing their own game after this and another corner from Aoibhe was dispatched by player of the week Cian O’Mullan who was having a great game at centre back with his passing through the lines creating lots of attacks.

At 3-3, Ballycastle looked like pushing on, but back came Portstewart and scored another couple before Conal scored a brilliant solo goal taking on three defenders before firing to the roof of the net.

Ballycastle had another few chances to find the equaliser bit fell just short in the end, a great game to watch and all our players gave it everything til the end

Ballycastle Colts who have been really pushing on the past few weeks, came up against Limavady who had beat them 3-2 last week, but this time round, The Colts were in great scoring form and were full value for their 5-1 win.

Like the Youths, they started slowly and fell one behind but quickly settled into the game and with player of the week Ronan McAuley keeping things tight at the back, Ballycastle started to take control of the game, everyone sticking to their tasks and Fergal 2, Mikey, Ronan Black and Patrick all finding the net in a great performance and result for this group
