Ballycastle top Premier League over Christmas break

Magherafelt Sky Blues 0 Ballycastle United 2

Patrick Mcalonan 45’+4′, Eddie McCloskey 66′

A huge three points in Mid-Ulster after an entertaining game. Sky Blues were much the better side in the First Half but were unable to find a way through the back line of Hill, Greene, Farrelly and Donnelly with Butler pulling off a few excellent saves.

Ballycastle came out with on the front foot in the second half and when a through ball from Daniel Laverty found Callum Campbell inside the box, he was bundled to the ground and the referee pointed to the spot. Eddie McCloskey dispatched the penalty to give the lads the lead.

Lorcan Donnelly hit the post and Oran Kearney also went close but the three points were wrapped up in the final minute of the game when Paddy McAlonan carried the ball 70 yards before finding the back of the net for his first goal for the seniors.

Well done Ballycastle, an extremely hard fought result, which sees us return to the top of the table for Christmas with six wins from six games scoring 19 goals and conceding just a single goal so far.
