As Bannsiders win friendly double header . . . Spence eyes Coleraine move

Kyle Spence is hoping to earn a deal with Coleraine.

The speedy winger played as a trialist in Saturday’s 2-0 win against H&W Welders at the Showgrounds.

From Croydon, the much travelled Spence was on the books of Maltese Premier League club Gzira United most recently.

A Scottish youth international, 27-year-old Spence has also played in Germany, Lithuania and Norway during his travels.

He also counts Crystal Palace and Coventry City amongst his former clubs.

A goal from Jamie Glackin and an own goal saw Coleraine defeat Championship outfit H&W, who drew 2-2 at Portstewart on Friday night.

Former Coleraine player Ronan Wilson started for the visitors who also included ex Derry City and Ballymena United striker David Parkhouse.

Glackin struck ten minutes into the second half – goalkeeper Jack Mills got a hand to the ball but couldn’t keep out his free kick from just outside the box.

The midfielder created a second on 72 minutes – his low cross deflecting off a defender and beating Mills at his near post – after combining with Spence.

The Coleraine team that started against the Welders was: Brown, Kane, Stewart, McClelland, Jarvis, Glackin, Tajeda, J. Scott, Shevlin, Spence, trialist.

* Earlier in the day at Ballycastle Road, the Bannsiders defeated Comber Rec 5-2.

Jamie McGonigle, Kirk McLaughlin, Sam McClintock with a penalty and a double from one of the trialists scored the goals.

Coleraine 20’s draw

Coleraine 20’s were also in action on Saturday.

Oran Carruthers and Tiernan Brolly scored in a 2-2 draw at Desertmartin.
