Coleraine Football Club have announced the signing of Cameron Stewart, a talented 21-year-old defender whose contract recently expired with Ipswich Town FC.

Cameron had just finished a loan spell at Scottish League One Cove Rangers where he gained good experience, before finishing his time with Kieran McKenna’s newly promoted side.

Cameron, who had spent time training with the Ipswich first team, is known for being a centre back who is comfortable on the ball and has excellent game reading ability.

His addition to the Coleraine line up is seen as a significant boost to the club’s defensive options.

Cameron, a childhood Coleraine fan, expressed his excitement about joining the Bannsiders: “My dad’s side of the family are all massive fans, so growing up we went to all the games, so it means a bit more to me now being a player.”

Dean Shiels, the head coach of Coleraine FC, shared his thoughts on the new signing:

“Cameron ticks all the boxes. We have a profile of player we are looking to try and recruit, he’s got really good potential having had lots of minutes at a good level in Scotland last year.

“We are expecting him to come in and really develop under the full time model and expecting big things from him.

Cameron’s signing marks another step in Coleraine’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the squad after following the contract renewal of Matthew Shevlin yesterday.
