Ballyrashane Summer Cup goes to Ballybogey

Ballybogey are the recent winners of the Ballyrashane Summer Cup, defeating North Coast 4-2 in Saturday’s final at a sun soaked Coleraine Showgrounds.

This year saw a new Cup sponsored by Maurice Bradley, who has been a long time support of the competition, which is also sponsored by Mervyn Acheson.

However, the man who does all the work behind the scenes, always shunning the limelight snd withiut whom, the competition would not be the success it has been for so many years. That man is Tommy Doherty, or to put it in Tommy’s language – “He’s the Guy”.

Yet another successful competition gone. But it proved to be a highly entertaining final with some exceptional play and a few familiar faces turning out for both Ballybogey and North-Coast.

The tournament was well handled by referee Stephen Kane, who officiated throughout, including the final.

The presentations were held in the Coronation Club, Ballyrasane where the committee also presented a cheque to Peter Smith on behalf of the Ballyrashane Summer Cup towards the Kevin Bell Trust following the death of his grandson Daniel, who passed away suddenly while on holiday.

A total of £1,000 was also raised for Dimentian NI
